Scope and Content

Correspondence Sir Denis William Brogan (1900-1974), historian, relating to an enquiry by Brogan regarding potential employment at the Manchester Guardian, with reference to previous experience and areas of expertise, and internal memoranda discussing the subject. There is also correspondence relating to a meeting between Scott and Brogan, and discussion of a potential trial period of employment, which does not take place.

Also included are a letter of introduction for Brogan from [Alexander Dunlop] Lindsay, educationist, and excerpts of a letter of recommendation from Professor D.J. Medley.

GDN/A/B93/17 is a newspaper cutting of an announcement of Brogan's election to a professorial fellowship at Peterhouse, Cambridge.
