Scope and Content

Correspondence with Jacques Bardoux, writer, relating to discussion of the potential contribution of articles by Bardoux for the Manchester Guardian, with internal memoranda discussing Bardoux's work. Also included are a letter of introduction for Bardeux from William [Bolitho] Ryall, correspondence relating to arrangements for a meeting between Scott and Bardoux, and an internal staff history of employment card for Bardoux.

There is correspondence discussing the French contributors to the Manchester Guardian [Commercial] supplements, entitled 'Reconstruction in Europe', with a request for Bardoux's assistance in securing eminent contributors. There is also a rebuttal of Bardeux's assertion that there is a political bias in the French contributors chosen for the supplements. There is correspondence between J[ohn] M[aynard] Keynes, economist, and C.P. Scott relating to discussion of contributors to the supplements, coverage of the contributors in the French press, and Bardoux's correspondence on the subject.
