Correspondence with Padraic Colum, writer, relating to a request by Scott that Colum write a series of articles on Irish 'types' of men to accompany illustration by Jack B. Yeats, painter, for the Manchester Guardian. There is reference to the form and content for the articles, and discussion of the death of [Edmund John Millington] Synge, playwright.

Also included is correspondence with Yeats relating to discussion of the illustrations for the Irish 'types' article.

There is a letter of recommendation for Colum from Alice Stopford Green, historian and Irish nationalist, and discussion of consideration for articles and sketches from Colum for the back page of the Manchester Guardian. There is also reference to a rivalry between Scott and Colum for the affections of an unknown woman.

There is correspondence relating to the offer of an [unknown] article by Colum for publication in the Manchester Guardian, which is refused.
