Scope and Content

Correspondence with Reverend Arthur Cotter, relating to discussion of Cotter's dismissal from employment [by the war office] in Finland and consequent employment as a correspondent on Finland for the Manchester Guardian, accompanied by related internal memoranda. Also included is correspondence relating to a proposal by Cotter to act as correspondent for the Manchester Guardian in Peking, and a request for a reference from Scott by Cotter for the position of Librarian at the California Bank in Los Angeles, a copy of which is included.

There is discussion an article in the Churchman sent by Cotter to Scott on the treatment of the Native American in America. [article not included].
