Scope and Content

Correspondence between Philip Robinson and W.P. Crozier, relating to a request to be considered for employment at the Manchester Guardian, with details of previous experience, and discussion of the kind of work applied for, which is declined, owing to a lack of vacancies, but with a request to see specimens of Robinson's work on Spain and continental affairs, which are provided, and accompanied by a related internal memorandum. Also included is a request by Robinson to provide a review of The Cid and his Spain by Ramon Menendez Pidal for publication in the paper, with discussion of the book. There is a request by Robinson to be considered for employment as holiday relief staff at the Manchester Guardian, which is declined.
