Correspondence between Douglas F.L. Brown, journalist, and W.P. Crozier, relating to Brown's employment as a sub-editor at the Manchester Guardian, with discussion of his application and appointment, and related internal memoranda on the subject.

There is correspondence relating to discussion of a request by Brown for an increase in salary. Also included is discussion of an offer of employment for Brown by The Times, Brown's formal letter of resignation, and a reference provided by Crozier.

There are letters of recommendation for Brown from W.H. Armitt, News Chronicle, and [William] Lints Smith, The Times.
