Scope and Content

Correspondence with William Henry Beveridge, Baron Beveridge (1879-1963), social reformer and economist, relating to a request that Beveridge write articles for the Manchester Guardian on family endowment, which is refused. There are also internal memoranda discussing Beveridge and the form of the proposed articles.

There is correspondence between Dr Georg Tugendhat and L.T. Hobhouse relating to a request that the Vienna International Summer School be publicised in the Manchester Guardian, accompanied by internal memoranda which suggests that Beveridge should be asked to write a short article for this purpose.

Also included is correspondence between Beveridge and W.P. Crozier which discusses the coalition government, and an address on social issues given by Beveridge [at the Manchester Reform Club].
