Correspondence between Henry Clay Randall, journalist and historian, and A.P. Wadsworth, relating to a request from Randall for temporary employment at the Manchester Guardian in order to gain experience of British journalism prior to his return to America, which is granted. There is discussion of Randall's previous experience, the provision of specimens of his work, and arrangements for his temporary employment by the paper. Also included is a letter of thanks from Randall, and a request for a letter of reference from Wadsworth, which is provided. There is a request by Margaret G. Michel, personnel manager of The Times Picayune for a reference for Randall, which is also provided.
