Scope and Content

Correspondence with Harold Thompson, bank director, relating to a request that Thompson act as a correspondent for the Manchester Guardian in Constantinople, which is granted. There is discussion of the work required, and rate of payment. Also included is a letter of recommendation for Thompson from [John Douglas] Quirk, journalist and editor, as his replacement in the role.

There is discussion of the return of Quirk to Constantinople, and his resumption of his role as correspondent for the paper, which is acknowledged by Thompson. Also included is discussion of a delay in handing over of the work, owing to a period of ill health suffered by Quirk, and Thompson's agreement to continue in the role until he has recovered. Also included are related internal memoranda, and a curriculum vitae for Thompson.
