Correspondence with Walter Meakin (1878-1940), journalist and trade unionist, relating to applications by Meakin for employment at the Manchester Guardian, with details of previous experience and the provision of specimens of work. Also included is a letter of recommendation from [Alexander Mackenzie] Drysdale, journalist and editor. There is discussion of the potential re-employment of Meakin by the Manchester Guardian, with reference to salary and the work required.
