Scope and Content

Correspondence with Frederick Edward Hamer ([1866]-1938), journalist, relating to discussion of the appointment of Hamer as sub-editor of the Welsh edition of the Manchester Guardian, and of plans for this version of the paper. Also included is correspondence discussing the suggestion that Hamer join the general staff of sub-editors, with an outline of his current responsibilities in in sub editing the Welsh edition of the paper, oversight of the churches column, and in writing additional leaders and special articles. There is a request by Hamer to be considered for a vacancy on the lobby staff at the London office of the Manchester Guardian, and discussion of the notes on the free church written by Hamer for the churches column, with reference to length and payment for articles.

There is a request by Hamer for a message from Scott to be read at the conference of Associated Business Papers, with discussion of fostering relations between the business press in Britain and America, which is provided.
