Scope and Content

Correspondence with Sir Percy Alden (1865-1944), social worker and politician, relating to a request that the Royal Exchange Assurance Company be given a share in the insurance work of the Manchester Guardian, with an addendum suggesting a potential article Alden could write on the political situation between Greece and Bulgaria with relation to refugees.

There is internal memoranda discussing the query, and a draft copy of the response letter sent by C.P. Scott, relating to the information that the Royal Exchange Assurance Company may already handle some of the business of the Manchester Guardian, and accepting the offer of an article for publication.

Also included is an internal memorandum relating to a visit by Percy Alden to relay thanks for assistance provided by the Manchester Guardian.
