Correspondence between Darsie R. Gillie (1903-1973), journalist, and A.P. Wadsworth, relating to discussion of Gillie's employment as correspondent for the Manchester Guardian in Paris, with reference to salary and expenses, potential exchange of services with other papers, a letter of credential for Gillie, and an arrangement for the sharing of Gillie's material with the Glasgow Herald, accompanied by related internal memoranda.

There is also correspondence between Gillie and Alastair Hetherington, relating to discussion of Gillie's failing health, the provision of cover and assistance for him, reports from doctors, and accompanied by related internal memoranda. There is a request by Gillie for an increase in salary. Also included is further correspondence relating to Gillie's health following a stroke, including reports from doctors, arrangements for an interim replacement, and reports on progress, accompanied by related internal memoranda. There is correspondence relating to Gillie's retirement, with discussion of pension arrangements, continuing health insurance coverage, and arrangements for Gillie's replacement, Nesta Roberts. Also included is correspondence with Cecilia Gillie, radio executive, and related internal memoranda discussing the subjects.

There is correspondence relating to thanks from Gillie for the notice of his retirement which appeared in the Manchester Guardian, and an internal memorandum which refers to news of an operation required by Gillie, and discussion of his obituary.
