Scope and Content

Copy letters to Margaret Emma Alice [Margot] Asquith, countess of Oxford and Asquith (1864-1945), political hostess and diarist, relating to discussion of the result of the [1922 general] election, the divisions within the Liberal party [between supporters of H.H. Asquith and David Lloyd George, prime minister], and Scott's entreaty for co-operation within the Liberal party.

There is also discussion of a despatch relating to Greece of which it is suggested [David] Lloyd George, prime minister, has not been aware, and also suggesting that [George Nathaniel] Curzon, [1st Marquess Curzon of Kedleston], foreign secretary, might be to blame for the omission.

Also included is a letter relating to the provision of a copy of a speech by [Ramsay] MacDonald, prime minister, in which a negative reference is made to [H.H.] Asquith. [speech not included.]
