Correspondence with Bernard Causton, journalist, and C.P. Scott, E.T. Scott and W.P. Crozier, relating to an application by Causton for employment at the Manchester Guardian, with details of previous employment and internal memoranda discussing the application. There is a letter of introduction for Causton from Patrick Monkhouse, journalist.

Also included is correspondence relating to Causton's work as an occasional correspondent for the Manchester Guardian from Berlin, and discussion of articles by Causton on a potential visit to Scandinavia, which does not take place. There is discussion of a letter of credential from W.P. Crozier for Causton to act as a correspondent for the Manchester Guardian in Scandinavia, with a focus upon questions raised by the [Second World] war, and of Crozier's desire to produce a feature on life in Germany.
