Correspondence between William Haley, journalist and editor, and E.T. Scott, relating to the joint employment of Noble [as a reporter] on the police court for the Manchester Guardian and the Manchester Evening News.

Also included is correspondence between W.V. Noble, journalist and E.T. Scott, relating to an application for re-employment on the Manchester Guardian reporting staff, with discussion of Noble's preference for employment at the Manchester Guardian, which is unsuccessful. Also included is a further application for employment as a reporter at the paper, with details of previous experience, which is unsuccessful, accompanied by related internal memoranda.
