Scope and Content

Correspondence between Quo Tai-Chi (1888-1952), diplomat and Chinese ambassador to the United Kingdom, and W.P. Crozier, relating to arrangements for multiple meetings between Quo and Crozier for private discussion of events in China and the situation in the Far East. There is discussion of a meeting arranged by Quo between Crozier and Peng Chun Chang, philosopher and diplomat, following a speech by Chang at the Free Trade Hall [in Manchester].

Also included is a request by Quo for the publication of an appeal in the Manchester Guardian from the Shanghai International Red Cross for funds to assist refugees in Shanghai, which is granted, with discussion of potential additional support in leader articles in the paper. There is an expression of good wishes by Crozier for Quo's return to China to become foreign minister, and arrangements to continue their correspondence. There is a request from Crozier for the provision of news of China and Japan.
