Scope and Content

Correspondence with Graham Wallas (1858-1932), political psychologist and educationist, relating to a complaint made by (Henry) Vivian Phillips, politician, regarding an interview with Herbert Henry Asquith published in the Manchester Guardian, and an explanation that the report of the interview had been submitted to Asquith prior to publication and approved.

There is a request for an article by Wallas on the early days of the Fabian [Society]. There is also discussion of the provision by Wallas of a letter from Walter Lippmann, journalist, to Scott, and of observations made by Wallas on a visit to America, with the suggestion that he might write articles on the subject for the paper, with reference to prohibition, and to higher education. Also included is a request that Wallas write an article on the University of London bill, which is granted.
