Scope and Content

Correspondence with Montague Fordham (1864-1948), agriculturalist, relating to a request by Fordham to publish an explanatory article on the [Rural Reconstruction Association] in the Manchester Guardian, which is refused.

Also included is discussion of the exchange of letters to the editor between Fordham and Sir Francis Acland, politician on the stabilisation of prices in agriculture, which are published in the Manchester Guardian. There is discussion of a potential review of a book [Britian's Trade and Agriculture; their recent evolution and future development] by Fordham.

GDN/A/F21/1-4 are an explanatory statement on the Rural Reconstruction Association, a leaflet advertising a book entitled A National Rural Policy by the Rural Reconstruction Committee, an address given by Fordham at a conference of the Rural Reconstruction Association entitled 'Standard Prices and the Production of Food', 1927, and an address by Fordham delivered at the London Society, entitled 'The Making and Unmaking of the London Slums'.
