Scope and Content

Correspondence with Richard Burdon Haldane, Viscount Haldane (1856-1928), politician, educationist, and lord chancellor, relating to thanks for and praise of articles on [Haldane's missions to Berlin, public opinion, and attacks on Haldane in the press] in the Manchester Guardian, with discussion of the articles, and a request by Haldane that the articles be reprinted in a pamphlet, and a request for 500 copies of the pamphlet, once prepared.

Also included is correspondence relating to appreciation of article on Haldane's [farewell address at his Presidential dinner at Manchester Reform Club] in the Manchester Guardian, and discussion of Haldane's work on educational reform. There is a request from Scott for an article from Haldane on the future application and implications of electricity, which is accepted, with discussion of a request from the Glasgow Herald to publish it at the same time, which is refused. Scott also requests an article from Haldane on a report by the Electricity Commissioner.

There is a copy letter relating to thanks for a copy of Haldane's autobiography by [Elizabeth Sanderson?] Haldane, with confirmation of its receiving a review in the Manchester Guardian.
