Scope and Content

Correspondence between Barnett Cracowski, cartographer and W.P. Crozier, relating to a request by Cracowski, currently employed in the cuttings filing department, to be considered for a vacancy as a sub-editor at the Manchester Guardian.

Also included is correspondence relating to Cracowski's absence form work due to serious illness, the requirement of two operations, discussion of recuperation, and also to his eventual death, accompanied by internal memoranda discussing the subject.

There is correspondence with Cracowski's wife, [Elsie] relating to thanks for condolences offered by Crozier, the use of the Manchester Guardian as a reference to take in boarders, and a request for assistance in the employment of their daughter, Joyce Cracowski, who is given work in the advertisement department at the Manchester Guardian. There is also a reference provided by Crozier for [Elsie] Cracowski for a position as a housekeeper.
