Letters from Robert Threshie Reid, Earl Loreburn (1846-1923), lord chancellor, relating to discussion of a request by Scott for support from Loreburn for a campaign against press gambling, which is granted, with discussion of the approach taken in a memorial 'Betting and Gambling, Especially Gambling through the Press', and a potential delegation to [Henry Campbell-Bannerman] prime minister, to discuss the subject. Also included are Loreburn's views on the [rejection of the budget of 1909 by the House of Lords], and on the evils of the liquor trade.

There is a letter relating to the prize competition bill, and its potential introduction in the House of Lords, and discussion of negotiations for home rule for Ireland, and the proposed forms it may take.
