Correspondence between Sir Keith Arthur Murdoch, journalist and newspaper proprietor, and A.P. Wadsworth, relating to a request for the temporary employment for John H. Maughan, journalist, and new member of staff at the Melbourne Herald, to gain experience at the Manchester Guardian, which is granted. Also included are related internal memoranda.

There is also correspondence between John H. Maughan, journalist, and A.P. Wadsworth, relating to discussion of the end of a year of employment for Maughan in the London office of the Manchester Guardian, with discussion of a potential short period of employment as an assistant to [Mark Arnold]-Forster, journalist, and foreign correspondent for the Manchester Guardian in Berlin, which is agreed, but does not take place. There is a request from Maughan for a letter of recommendation from Wadsworth, which is provided.
