Scope and Content

Correspondence with Sir Jacob Epstein (1880-1959), sculptor, relating to discussion of the terms of a commission for the production of a bust of C.P. Scott by Epstein, with arrangements for sittings, and details of the transfer and casting of the bust. Also included is discussion of the inclusion of the bust of Scott in an exhibition at the Walker Art Gallery, and internal notes on an article on the negative comments made by Lord Wavertree [William Hall Walker], politician and art collector, at the opening of the exhibition, and Epstein's response to them, published in the Manchester Guardian.

There is correspondence relating to a complaint by Epstein over a misunderstanding relating to an article in the Manchester Guardian on the loan of sculptures to an exhibition in Hull, and a reference to Epstein which was intended to be humorous.
