Scope and Content

Correspondence between Archibald Henry Macdonald Sinclair, first Viscount Thurso (1890-1970), politician, and W.P. Crozier, relating to praise by Sinclair of the Manchester Guardian, and appreciation of this good opinion by Crozier, accompanied by an apology that a report of a speech by Sinclair was not included in the Cambridge edition of the Manchester Guardian. There is also an expression of gratitude by Sinclair for the support and publicity for the Liberal party provided by the paper.

There is correspondence relating to arrangements for meetings between Sinclair and Crozier, with difficulty in finding a convenient time, and an expression of thanks by Sinclair for a telegram of support sent by Crozier for a speech by Sinclair at the Free Trade Hall in Manchester. There is discussion of the change in government policy [toward Germany following the invasion of Czechoslovakia?] and the need for a parliamentary debate on the subject. There is an expression of congratulations by Crozier on Sinclair's [appointment as secretary of state for air], and discussion of the press coverage and public opinion on the performance of the [Royal] Air Force, and their relations with the other military services.
