Correspondence between Edith M. Symonds and E.T. Scott, relating to a request that E.T. Scott read an article submitted to the back page of the Manchester Guardian by her niece, Theodora Alcock, and an enquiry as to whether E.T. Scott would recommend that her niece apply for a course in journalism at a college or university. Also included is praise of the article by E.T. Scott, an explanation as to why it was not accepted, and a lack of enthusiasm for schools of journalism, accompanied by a related internal memorandum. There are also letters from Theodora Alcock, containing a request for an introduction to E.T. Scott from Symonds.
