Scope and Content

Correspondence with Charles Thomas Le Quesne, (1885-1954), Lawyer and President of the Baptist Union, relating to an offer of employment for Le Quesne as a leader writer at the Manchester Guardian, with discussion of the work required, and of salary, which is declined. Also included is an offer by Le Quesne to contribute articles and carry out occasional work for the paper.

There are letters of recommendation for Le Quesne in support of an application for the position of legal reviewer at the Manchester Guardian from S[idney] Ball, socialist, and senior tutor of St Johns College Oxford, Lewis Richard Farnell, college head and classical scholar, [unknown] and W.A Greene, All Souls College, Oxford, recently resigned legal reviewer for the paper.
