Scope and Content

Correspondence between Marcel Selzalory-Cathulin, journalist, and W.P. Crozier, relating to arrangements for the provision of information and news on Spain via telegram by Cathulin. There is an enquiry by Cathulin relating to the provision of additional information which may have been subject to censorship, which is confirmed. Also included is discussion between Julio Álvarez del Vayo, journalist and politician, and Crozier of arrangements for the sending of telegrams to the Manchester Guardian by Cathulin. There is a letter of accreditation for Cathulin from the paper for the sending of telegrams.

There is discussion of the format in which Cathulin's telegrams are sent, and requests that only news of exceptional importance be sent via telegram, as all general news is received from the Reuters [Agency reports]. There is an offer by Cathulin to act as a correspondent for the paper on Spain, which is declined. Also included is a copy letter to B.G. Hall from Crozier, suggesting that the supply of money is removed from Cathulin's use to discourage the sending of telegrams.
