Correspondence with Henry William Massingham (1860-1924), journalist and editor, relating to discussion of the terms of Massingham's employment as London correspondent [writer of the parliamentary sketch and the London letter] for the Manchester Guardian, with reference to salary, hours of work, and length and frequency of articles. Also included is Massingham's letter of resignation to take up the position of parliamentary correspondent for the Daily News.

There is an appeal by Scott relating to Massingham's use of the term 'Woman Suffrage' in a headline in The Nation. There is also a request from Gertrude M. Cross, secretary to Massingham, for information relating to his employment at the Manchester Guardian for a biographical note for the publication of a collection of Massingham's writings, which is provided.
