Correspondence with Handley D. Hooper, clergyman and missionary, relating to a request by Scott that Hooper act as a correspondent for the Manchester Guardian in Kenya, with discussion of the dispossession of the native population, [which is accepted.] Also included is correspondence with Norman Leys, doctor and Africanist, relating to the provision by Leys of a letter by Hooper on concerns relating to the impact of the compulsion of work for railway construction on the [native] reserves for publication in the Manchester Guardian, and discussion of Hooper as a potential correspondent for the paper.
