Wadsworth relating to discussion of and arrangements for Bliven, in addition to his role at The New Republic, to become an American correspondent for the Manchester Guardian, with discussion of salary, form and quantity of information, and articles required.
Also included is discussion of subjects for Bliven's articles, which are to cover the political situation in America, and areas of more general interest, with reference to Mexico and Nicaragua, the plight of the Native Americans, the case of Sacco and Vanzetti and proposed plans in America to raise money to assist in the escape of Jews from Germany. There is correspondence relating to a discussion of photographs of American architecture sent by Bliven, and of Wickham Steed, newspaper editor.
There is correspondence on a request for a review by Bliven of Peace or War by J[opseh] M[ontague] Kenworthy, with discussion of related articles by Kenworthy. There is discussion of the restrictions on trade outlined in the League of Nations convenant, and a request for an article on the Kellogg-Briand pact and the naval cruiser bill of 1929.
There is correspondence relating to payment for articles, arrangements for Bliven's son to work for the Manchester Guardian during a summer holiday, and a request that Bliven provide assistance to Sir Ernest Simon, industrialist and politician, during a visit to America. There is also a personal letter from Crozier on the death of E.T. Scott.
Also included is an initial request for a meeting with Scott by Bliven, expressing his admiration for the Manchester Guardian, internal memoranda discussing Bliven's talent as a journalist, and a compliment paid to Bliven's work in the Manchester Guardian by E.M. Schofield. There is a letter of introduction for Bliven from D[avid] Mitrany, political scientist.
There is correspondence relating to the termination of Bliven's employment owing to the need for a full-time correspondent on America, and intention of employing Alistair Cooke, with appreciation of Bliven's work.
