Scope and Content

Correspondence with Sidney Salomon, barrister and journalist, relating to a request by Salomon to be considered for a vacancy at the Manchester Guardian, with details of previous experience, which is declined, as the vacancy is for a sub-editor. Also included are arrangements for a meeting between Scott and Salomon, and reference to experience gained by Salomon as a news editor. There is discussion of Scott's decision to decline to publish a letter to the editor from Salomon on the Jewish method of slaughter, with reference to an article entitled 'Humane Slaughter Demonstration; first English Model Abattoir' in the Manchester Guardian, as it is felt that it may provoke attack.

Also included is correspondence between Salomon and W.P. Crozier, relating to further requests by Salomon to be considered for employment, for work in the paper's London office, and as a night news manager, with details of experience as chief sub-editor in the London office of the Yorkshire Post, which are declined.
