Scope and Content

Correspondence with Arthur Pole Nicholson (1869-1940), journalist, relating to a request from Nicholson for a copy of a complimentary notice in the London letter of the Manchester Guardian on his resignation from the post of political correspondent for The Times, which is granted. Also included is a transcript of the notice. There is a request from Nicholson to [Allan] Monkhouse, journalist and writer, that the Manchester Guardian review his book Who Goes Home?, which is acknowledged.

Also included are internal correspondence and memoranda relating to the temporary employment of Nicholson as the parliamentary gallery sketch writer for the Manchester Guardian, with discussion of salary.
