Scope and Content

Correspondence with H.V. Wallace King, journalist, relating to discussion of King's employment as a correspondent for the Manchester Guardian in Cologne, with discussion of methods of payment for work, and a request by King to be paid a retaining fee, owing to the fluctuation in income caused by an inability to work owing to illness, and the illness of King's wife, which is granted. Also included are internal memoranda discussing details of the arrangement of payment for King's work.

Also included is correspondence relating to King's resignation from his position, owing to the offer of a post as a correspondent for the Central News in Berlin, with an offer to continue to contribute articles to the Manchester Guardian, which is acknowledged. There is reference to an article by King on the occupation [of the Rhineland]. Also included are internal memoranda relating to the settlement of accounts in relation to King's employment.
