Scope and Content

Correspondence with Dewan Bahadur M. Ramachandra Rao, civil servant and activist, relating to a request by Rao to write articles on India from the Indian perspective for publication in the Manchester Guardian, with discussion of the coverage of the political situation in India in the paper. Also included is correspondence between Scott and [John Tudor] Gwynn, civil servant in India, relating to discussion of Rao and his previous experience, and the conveyance of Rao's request to send articles to the paper, with praise from Scott of Rao's abilities as a writer.

There is a request from Rao to contribute articles to the Manchester Guardian on the problems relating to the people of the independent Indian states, one of which is accepted, with discussion of length, editing, and date of publication. There is also reference to a visit to Rao to England as a member of the moderate deputation from India.
