Scope and Content

Correspondence with Percy Stafford Allen (1869-1933), Erasmian scholar and president of Corpus Christi College, relating to an invitation to an informal party to celebrate an anniversary of [Richard] Fox, founder of [Corpus Christi] College, the suggestion that Allen write an article on Fox and the history of the college to celebrate the anniversary, which is accepted, and discussion of a review of a book on Fox to appear in the Manchester Guardian. Also included is a discussion of the proposed expansion of the Bodleian Library, with a request that Scott publish a letter written by his wife [Helen Allen] on the subject.

There is a request for the recommendation of students for potential employment by the Manchester Guardian, though it is eventually decided not to hire new staff at this time, including internal memoranda discussing a meeting with Mr Berlin, the recommended student. There is also discussion of Scott's pleasure at receiving news of T.P. Monnington.

Also included is correspondence with E.T. Scott relating to arrangements to supply Allen with a copy of the photograph and memorial supplement [published on the occasion of the death of C.P. Scott], expression of thanks for the appreciation of the life and work of C.P. Scott in the college minutes, and discussion of an invitation to attend a gaudy at Corpus Christi College.
