Scope and Content

Edgar Frederick Carritt (1876-1964), professor, relating to discussion of reviews of books, articles and letters by Carritt for publication in the Manchester Guardian. There is correspondence relating to suggested corrections for a review of a book, discussion of payment for reviews by other papers and of salary. Also included is correspondence relating to articles written during an extended visit to the American Midwest, and discussion of a letter by Carritt on the [Hitler] Youth movement.

There is correspondence relating to a suggestion by Scott that Carritt write a more light-hearted article on bathing for publication in the Manchester Guardian, and reference to a discussion of Scott between Carritt and [Robert] Bridges, [poet].

Also included is a letter of recommendation for an article by Carritt from E[rnest] De Selincourt, literary scholar.
