Scope and Content

Correspondence with Sir Chirravoori Yajneswara Chintamani (1880 - 1941), journalist and politician, relating to discussion of Chintamani's resignation from the post of Minister of Education and Industries in the United Provinces, and a request that the Manchester Guardian publish correspondence on the subject, which is refused. Also included is a letter of introduction for Chintamani by [John Tudor] Gwynn, [civil servant in India], which reference to Chintamani's resignation.

Also included is a request by Chintamani to be considered for employment as an occasional correspondent on India for the Manchester Guardian, with discussion with Gwynn as to subjects for potential articles, and a request by Scott that Chintamani write an article on the future of the civil service in India, which is accepted.
