Correspondence with Edward M. House (1858-1938), diplomat, politician and presidential advisor, relating to discussion of a meeting between Scott and [David] Lloyd George, prime minister, and Scott's concerns over Lloyd George's attitude towards the proposed annexation of the Saar Valley by France and occupation of the Rhineland -following the First World War], and the suggestion by Scott that these proposals may be difficult to reconcile with the principles proposed for peace by [Woodrow] Wilson, president, and those of the League of Nations. Scott also expresses concerns about Lloyd George's attitude towards Russia, with the suggestion that the status quo may be maintained by providing support to anti-Bolshevik forces.
