Scope and Content

Correspondence with Gertrude Mary Tuckwell (1861-1951), trade unionist and social reformer, relating to a request for support from the Manchester Guardian for the proposed Factories Bill, with discussion of the bill, and its abandonment by the government. Also included is reference to the provision of articles by Tuckwell on the National Health Insurance Commission, which are declined, and a request for articles from Tuckwell on the [Factories Bill], for which she instead recommends Constance Smith, novelist and deputy chief inspector of factories, as a greater authority on the subject.
