Scope and Content

Correspondence with William Wedgwood Benn, first Viscount Stansgate (1877-1960), politician, relating to discussion of [an offer by] Benn to review books on politics for the Manchester Guardian, accompanied by a related internal memorandum. Also included is discussion of the political situation in Ireland, with reference to [the execution of Robert Erskine] Childers, author and politician. There is a request by Scott that Benn write an article from the P.L.M. (Paris Lyons and Mediterranean Railway) sponsored motor tour in the Jura, which is accepted. Also included is confirmation provided to the P.L.M. that Benn will act as a representative for the paper on the tour.
