Scope and Content

Correspondence with Francis T. Houghton Turner, relating to the termination of Turner's employment in the composing room of the Manchester Guardian, owing to irreconcilable differences with H.O. Rouse, head of the department. There is a request by Turner for Scott to become vice-president of the Manchester Lyric Club and to provide financial assistance, which is declined. Also included is a poem by Turner entitled 'The Evening is Best of All'.

There correspondence between Turner and E.T. Scott, relating to a request by Turner for re-employment at the Manchester Guardian following a period of illness, which is declined. Also included a letter of correction to the punctuation of an article published in the paper.
