MRCS LRCP 1948.

Gardner was born in Salford on 23 December 1915 and was educated at Manchester Grammar School, Trinity College Dublin and the University of Manchester. After qualifying, Gardner held junior positions at Park Hospital, Davyhulme before entering general practice in 1951. From 1952 Gardner was principal GP in Little Halton, Walkden, until he retired in 1966. After this, he was assistant medical officer for Eccles Division of Lancashire County Council until 1970. Gardner also was medical officer to various factories and was a trainer in general practice at the University of Manchester. He was a member of Manchester Medical Society and Eccles Medical Society and an associate of the Royal College of General Practitioners.
