Greenhalgh was a general practitioner in Bolton. In 1956 Greenhalgh brought charges against Dr Howard Kitching of Altrincham and Dr Moya Applebee of Buxton, for allegedly causing a fracture to his spine while treating him with electro convulsive therapy at Wye House Nursing Hospital in Buxton in 1948. Greenhalgh lost his claim.
