Beever was indentured as an apprentice at MRI in 1826. After qualifying with the LSA he went to London and studied at King's College for his MRCS. On his return to Manchester Beever was appointed house surgeon at MRI, but resigned in 1835. He was elected to the surgical staff in 1847 and held this position until his death on 23 June 1872.
