Greenwood gained her medical qualifications from the University of Manchester in 1925. She specialised in obstetrics and paediatrics holding appointments at Withington Hospital Manchester and the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital. She was later assistant medical officer for the Maternity and Child Welfare Service in Manchester.
