MB ChB Manch Vict 1899, MD 1909.

Clarke studied at Owens College Manchester before holding various positions in Manchester, including pathologist at North Manchester Hospital, senior resident medical officer at St Mary's Hospital, casualty surgeon at Ancoats Hospital and medical officer to the 2nd Western Military Hospital. He was later appointed ear, nose and throat surgeon at the Jewish Hospital Manchester, honorary physician to Delamere Children's Hospital and physician to the Hospital for Consumption and Diseases of the Chest and Throat, Manchester. Clarke was a member of Manchester Medical Society and Manchester Pathological Society.
