MB ChB Manch 1921, DPH 1923, MD 1925; MRCP Lond 1926.

Ashcroft won many prizes while a student at Manchester Medical School. After qualification he held resident positions at MRI and Ancoats Hospital before becoming honorary medical officer to Greengate Hospital, Salford, later being promoted to honorary consulting physician. Ashcroft was also honorary physician for Manchester Hospital for Consumption and Diseases of the Throat and Chest, and demonstrator in anatomy at University of Manchester. from 1923-1927. Ashcroft retired in 1948. He was married to Lillie Marguerite Ashcroft, also a Manchester doctor. Ashcroft was a member of Manchester Medical and Pathological Societies.
