Edward Vipont Brown studied at St Bartholomew's Hospital London and qualified MRCS, LSA in 1886 and MB in 1888. He took his MD in 1901. Brown was a general practitioner in Longsight, Manchester. He was father of Cedric Vipont Brown and the writer, Elfrida Vipont Brown. A Quaker, he published a number of papers and gave addresses on social and ethical aspects of medicine.
