Bride was the son of John Bride, a GP in Wilmslow. He graduated in medicine from the University of Manchester in 1907, and took MDs of the University of London in 1911 and the University of Manchester in 1919. After war service, he worked at St Mary's Hospitals and was appointed a consultant surgeon in 1921. He was also honorary gynaecologist at Manchester Northern Hospital, and after the creation of the NHS he was a consultant gynaecologist for United Manchester Hospitals. Bride lectured in obstetrics and gynaecology at the University of Manchester, and wrote a history of St. Mary's Hospitals. He was a member of Manchester Medical Society .
